He was predeceased by: his sisters, Rhodie Lee McDonald, Susie Johnson and Virgie Page; his sons, John Calvin (John Louis McDonald) and Haywood (Lizzie); and his son-in-law William H Cain Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Shirley McDonald; his daughters, Loretta Frazier (Greg) of Winston-Salem, NC and Shirley Marie Cain (Derrick) of Lumberton; his brothers, Lawrence Davis (Teresa) and Jimmy Davis of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Erick McDonald (Nina), Chanel Cain, Jontarius Cain, Shirley McCrae McDonald, Maggie Bell Smith, Minster Ann Whitted, Patricia Mclver (Thornton), Susan McNeill (Randy) and Julia Faye Stocks; and his brother-in-law Gary Stocks (Jeanette). He is also survived by six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other, relatives, and friends.
