He was predeceased by: his parents, Everton Chavis and Walter Mae Woods Chavis. He is survived by: his children, Melinda Jones of Parkton, Jerome Jones of Parkton, Edwin Jones of Parkton, Chad Jones of Lumberton, Mark Chavis of South Carolina and Matthew Chavis of Lumber Bridge; and his siblings, Everton Chavis Jr (Kathleen) of Lumber Bridge, Stevie Chavis (Sharon) of Rex, Charles Lee Chavis, Glenda Munoz (David) of Ohio, Vivian Blackwell, Janice Samorripa of California, Sylvia Puckett (Eddie) of Tennessee and Annette Schumake of Tennessee. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
