It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Ray Oates Sr. of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, who passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Gordon and Verlon Swinson Oates; his former wife Sharon DuBois; his wife Betty Belton-Oates; and his siblings, Tommy Oates and Sandra Oates Barwick.
He is survived by: his son Donald Ray Oates, Jr. (Kristy) of Chapel Hill; and his brother Ronnie Oates (Patty) of Wallace.
