He was predeceased by: his grandson Andrew; and his parents, Walter and Lennie Simpson Kirby. He is survived by: his wife Edith Deans Kirby; his sons, Steve Kirby (Ann) of Kenly and Craig Kirby (Carol) of Clayton; his grandchildren, Stephanie Kirby (Steven Salina) of Raleigh and Ryan Kirby (Helen) of Lucama; his great grandchildren, Elijah, Tessa, Josiah and Amelia; and his children, Ryan and Andrew "Drew".
