She was predeceased by: her husband James Benjamin Ellis, Jr.; her parents, Raymond Ballance and Lennie Mae Ferrell Ballance of Wilson County; and her siblings, Emma Jean Wellons and Felton Ballance.
She is survived by: her daughters, Wendy Cumberland of Winston Salem and Prudence McGuigan of Mountain City, TN; her grandchildren, Erica Cumberland, April Brigman (Geoffrey), Kim Rich (Jim), Tyler Cumberland and Richie Isaacs (Jennifer); and her stepgrandsons, Ronald McGuigan (Danielle) and Joey McGuigan (Megan). She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Wilson Memorial Service (2811 Fieldstream Dr N, Wilson, NC 27896). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Evergreen Memorial Park (2800 Nash St N, Wilson, NC 27896).
