He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Pauline Woodard Benton; his parents, Herman Benton and Irene Langston Benton; and his grandson Hunter Benton. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Pittman (Fred) of Seaford, VA, Sandra Currie (Jesse) of Wilson and Mark Hunter Benton of Lucama; his grandchildren, Eric Currie (Donna), David Currie (Amanda), Samantha Demyanyuk (Illya), Daniel Pittman (Kristi) and Jeffery Benton (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Austin, Kristin, Evan, Landan Currie, Zachary, Emma Currie, Jacob, Olivia, Scarlett Pittman, Alla, Alecksi Demyanyuk, Jaxson and Jace Benton; and his siblings, Geraldine "Jerry" Holland of Goldsboro, Carl Benton (Peggy), J. B. Benton (Eunice) of Fremont and Bobby Benton (Sandra) of Pikeville.
