She was predeceased by: her husband Hollie Chestnut; her daughter Mattie Lee Horton; her parents, Roy Shelley and Mattie Gibson Shelley; her stepsons, Hollie Chestnut, Jr., Roger Chestnut, James Ray Chestnut, Sylvester Chestnut, Charles Earl Chestnut, Leonard Chestnut and Johnny Lee Chestnut; and her siblings, Walter Shelley, Leroy Shelley, William Henry Shelley, Willie Shelley and Dorothy Shelley.
She is survived by: her children, Charlie Mitchell (Georgia) of Wilson, NC, Billy Chestnut of Fayetteville, NC and Linda Faye Chestnut; her siblings, Doris Edwards (Johnny) of Wilson, NC, Bernice Deans of Wilson, NC and James Gibson Shelley (Katie) of Wilson, NC; and her daughters-in-law, Betty Chestnut, Sadie Mae Chestnut and Frances Chestnut. She is also survived by thirty-one grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren.
