He is survived by: his wife Leslie Hatfield Pate; his children, Allison Ruby Pate and Andrew Montgomery Pate; his siblings, Diane P. Lamm (Fred) of Lucama, Vicky P. Peeden (Doug) of Lucama, James B. Pate, Jr. of Lucama and Danny R. Pate (Donna) of Wilson; his nieces, Kristen P. Davis (Stephen), Kari P. Thomas (Sam) and Jessica N. Pate; and his nephew Fred Adam Lamm (Amanda).
