She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Glen Smith Mitchell and Velma Cox Mitchell; her husband Jimmy Dowell; her sons, Jim Dowell, Jr. of Greensboro and Mitch Dowell (Sherri) of Lowgap; her grandsons, Mitchell Dowell and Alex Dowell; her siblings, Norris Mitchell (Wendy) of Great Falls, VA, Larry Mitchell (Burline) of Hillsville, VA and Linda Fiedler (Forest) of Meadows; and her close friend Linda Parks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church, Welcome House Missions, or Alzheimer's Association/Foundation. Food donations may be made to The Shepherd's House in Mount Airy.
