It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Hunt Hinson of Louisburg, North Carolina, born in Franklin, North Carolina, who passed away on April 13, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mark Henry Hunt and Bessie Denton Hunt; and her sisters, Elsie Gray Pernell, Josephine Ida Driver and Mary Charles Holmes.
She is survived by: her husband Kirby Hinson; and her nieces, Debbie Batts, Shay Dwyer and Marbeth Holmes. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and their children.
Shirley made significant personal contributions to the American space program and was well recognized for her efforts.
