He was predeceased by: his wife Debbie; his parents, Samuel Hammett Sr. and Louise Hammett; his brothers, Danny and Donnie Hammett; his granddaughter Savannah Bindi Sherman; his son-in-law Erik Sherman; his brother Phil; his sister-in-law Susan Taylor; and also, Clyde and Etta Taylor.
He is survived by: his daughters, Britton Hammett-McCurry (John) of Sharpsburg, GA and Samantha Hammett-Sherman (Nicholas Huxtable) of Louisburg, NC; his granddaughter Sierra Sherman (Baldemar Casarrubias-Ramirez); his great grandchildren, Samuel, Aaiden, Misael and Nova; his grandchildren, Madison Sherman, Ridge Sherman and Blaze Huxtable; his brother Lanny Hammett (Judy) of Sharpsburg, GA; his brother-in-law David Taylor (Norma) of Smyrna, GA; and his close friend Gayle. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
