She was predeceased by: her parents, William Vinson Batchelor and Johnnie Hinton Batchelor; her husband Horace Gay; and her brother Randall Hinton Batchelor. She is survived by: her daughters, Clara Gay of Raleigh and Linda Reckenbeil (Kenneth) of Richmond, VA; her grandchildren, Johanna Behrens (Jared) and Adam Reckenbeil (Emily); her great grandchildren, Katherine, Jacob Behrens, Ella Kate, Shepard and Parker Reckenbeil; her sisters, Doris Grissom and Barbara Jo Batchelor; and her nieces and nephews, Michael Grissom, Robert Grissom, Ann Layton, Jean Johnson, Wilma Batts, Thomas Gay, Robert Gay and David Gay. She is also survived by parents, husband, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Zebulon Baptist Church (400 N Arendell Ave, Zebulon, NC 27597).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial gifts be made to Zebulon Baptist Church.
