He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Holmes and Ethel Holmes; his wife Myrtle Cooke Holmes; and his siblings, Yates, Jimmy Holmes and Nadine Lawson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elaine Johnson (Jimmy), Darnell Alford (Danny) and Rochelle Gilliam (Wayne); his grandchildren, Dana Perry (Grady), Jacqueline Holden (Ernie), Chuck Tingen, Michael Gilliam (Kim), Tori Inscoe (Brannon), Kristi Van Valkenburgh (Ryan) and Grant Gilliam (Heather); and his sister Betty Woodcock. He is also survived by Pa to his grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
