He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Abbott and Bertha Roberson Abbott; his daughter Elizabeth Ann Abbott; his sisters, Paulette A. Boyd and Janet A. Newhouse; and his brothers-in-law, John Twisdale, Sr., Roy Newhouse and William Boyd.
He is survived by: his children, David Lee Abbott, Jr. of Henderson and Angela Wieland of Clayton; and his siblings, Barbara Twisdale of Henderson, Buster Abbott (Sandra) of Kittrell and Mike Abbott (Evelyn) of Louisburg. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
