He is survived by: his fiancé Jalenn Layton; his children, James Johnston of Raleigh, Mac Johnston of Louisburg and Caity Johnston of Louisburg; and his siblings, Gus Johnston (Rose) of Youngsville and Pam Southerland of Louisburg.
