She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph John Powell; her parents, Johnnie Stanford Raper and Octavia Stancil Raper of Nash County; and her siblings, Larry Bryant (Raper), Johnnie Thomas "JT" Raper, Eunice Raper Newton and Evelyn Raper King.
She is survived by: her daughters, Wanda Powell Garren (Todd) of Lincolnton, NC and Harriet Elizabeth "Beth" Powell (Matt) of Littleton, NC; her grandchildren, Mattie Tyner, Jack Tyner, Maleigh Garren and Judson Garren; her brother Kenneth "Tom" Raper (Linda); and her friend Linda Leonard Slater. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
