He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Lee Shipton and Daisy Floyd Shipton; his son Barry Shipton; and his grandson Scott Shipton. He is survived by: his wife Jean Young Shipton; his son Jeff Shipton (Gaye) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Brent Shipton of Sylva, NC, Joshua Shipton (Megan) of Linwood, Jordan Leonard (Casey) of Lexington and Makayla Shipton of Linwood; his sister Mary Jane Byerly of Denton; his half-brother Leroy Shipton of Thomasville; and his daughter-in-law Vickie Surratt of Linwood.
