He was predeceased by: his parents, Columbus Howard Hughes and Bertha Naomi Hughes; his son Charles Evans Hughes; and his sisters, Grace Daniels, Marian Garland and Helen Hughes (Paul).
He is survived by: his wife Bessie Fay Watson Hughes; his daughter Paula Hughes of Linville, NC; his daughter-in-law Betsy Hughes of Linville, NC; and his sisters, Christine Billings of Rural Hall, NC and Shirley Gelston (Paul) of Denver, CO.
