It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Sallie Plaspohl of Linville, North Carolina, born in Swainsboro, Georgia, who passed away on January 1, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She is survived by: her son David Plaspohl; her daughter-in-law Sara Plaspohl; her granddaughter Libby Plaspohl Hale; her husband Jimmy Plaspohl; and her daughter Sallie. She is also survived by children, married.

Her death, due to COVID, was ironic because she was in many ways a product of the 1918 flu pandemic. Her parents, both widowed from their spouse's deaths due to the 1918 pandemic and already having children, married and produced three daughters including Sallie.
