He was predeceased by: his parents, Zeb Coats and Annie-Mae Stephenson Coats; his son Kenneth Coats; his stepdaughter Virginia "Ginger" Turner Pach; and his siblings, John Coats and Lucille Coats Addison.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Lucas Turner; his son Everette Coats, Jr. (Angela); his stepdaughter Trudeau Nichols (Ray); his siblings, Bill Coats (Marlene), Raeford Coats (Faye) and Betty Shields; his grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer Nichols) and Lindsey Glista (Christian); and his great grandchildren, Madalyn Hernandez, Turner Nichols and Caroline Nichols. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
