He was predeceased by: his parents, David Avery Blalock, Sr. and Lena Rae Hockaday Blalock; his son David Avery Blalock, III; and his brother-in-law John Lee Davis. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Jenny" Blalock; his daughter Kathryn Bowers (David) of Greensboro; his stepchildren, Melissa B Pollard of Linden and TJ Byrd (Tiffany) of Sanford; his sister Jean Davis of Fuquay Varina; his nephew John Davis (Gail) of Fuquay Varina; his grandchildren, Stephanie B. Moore of Chesapeake, VA, Ashley Blalock of New York, Madeline Broome of Linden, Nathan and Samuel Byrd of Sanford; and his great grandchildren, Emma Claire Moore (Edgar) of Chesapeake, VA., Lourdes (Edgar, Jr.) and Angelina Gonzales.
