He was predeceased by: his sons, Kenneth Wayne Bowden and Donald Mack Bowden; his grandson Ryan Parker; and his siblings, James Duncan "Tennie" Bowden (Jean) of Linden, NC., Billy Mack Bowden and Mary Elizabeth "Sissy" Hair.

He is survived by: his children, Daniel "Boone" Bowden of Linden, NC and Margie Hair of Linden, NC.; his siblings, Wayne S. Bowden (Rebecca) of Linden, NC, Thurman, Donnie Bowden of Linden, NC. and Wanda Gail Landreth of Erwin, NC.; and his grandchildren, Denise Gainey, William Gainey Ricky Hair Jr., Desire Sessoms, Anthony Bowden, Joshua Bowden, Daniel Bowden and Chesley Bowden.
