He is survived by: his wife Pauline Harris Carpenter; his daughters, Sheri Bowman (Shane) of Vale and Deanna Cashion (Douglas) of Denver; his siblings, Farrell Carpenter of Vale, Marie Canipe of Vale, Ann Weldon of Hickory and Emma Metcalf of Lincolnton; and his grandchildren, Titus Cashion and Scarlett Bowman.
