She was predeceased by: her parents, Annie Ola Ervin and Edward Earl Francis; her husband Eugene Dellinger Modlin; her sister Barbara Anne Williams; and her grandson Zachary Eugene Modlin.
She is survived by: her children, Dr. Michael Modlin (Jane) of Chapel Hill, Rosanne Modlin Short of Raleigh and Dr. Eugene Modlin (Laurie) of Hickory; her grandchildren, Candace Modlin Davis (Jeff), Michael Modlin (Brooke), Thad Modlin (Emily), Jennifer Short Schoenholz (Derek), Joe Short (Roni), Hayes Modlin (Jessie) and Hillary Modlin; and her pet Missy. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
