He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas E. Broome and Ruth Star Broome; his former wife Florence "Flo" Huffstickler Broome; his son Richard Lamar "Buck Shot" Broome, Jr.; and his stepson Bobby Kirk (Juanita).
He is survived by: his wife Betty H. Broome; his stepchildren, James Kirk (Peggy), Sharon Hodgin (Willard) and Richard Allen Terry (Barbara); his brother Robert "Bob" Broome (JoAnn); his sister-in-law Marion Rhyne (Doug); his grandchildren, Emily Stowe (Koley), Beth Jenkins, Michael, Jamie Black, Allan Goodson, Chad Kirk, Kelley Leatherwood and David Felton; his great grandchildren, Hayden McCall Stowe, Cooper Kirk and Parker Leatherwood; and his niece Rhonda Rhyne. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 2200 Auten Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
