She was predeceased by: her father Earl Marion Gates. She is survived by: her daughters, Sharon Hart (Edgar) of Lincolnton and Crystal Elgin of Lincolnton; and her brother Earl M. Gates, Jr. of Lincolnton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
