It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Matthew Eugene Brooks of Lincolnton, North Carolina, born in Greenwood, South Carolina, who passed away on October 14, 2021, at the age of 54, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his stepson William Black. He is survived by: his parents, Tom Brooks and JoAnne Echols Brooks; his fiancée Marilyn Loretta Black; his daughter Elizabeth Maples (Keith) of Gastonia; his siblings, Tommy Brooks (April) of Gastonia and Karen Rector (Blair) of Cramerton; and his stepchildren, Melinda Backstrone (John, Sr.), Heather Arnett, James Hinson, Dorothy Black and Ruby Lightner (Allen). He is also survived by 14 future grandchildren and two future step-great-grandchildren.
