He is survived by: his wife Carol Tadlock Childers; his sons, Derek Childers (Beth) of Lincolnton and Scott Childers (Beverly) of Lincolnton; his sister Louise C. Brindle of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Christopher Childers, Jennifer Carte and Alex Childers; and his great grandchildren, Jonah Carte, Remi Childers, Jovi Childers, Nick Carte and Kelsey Carte.
