She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Harve Kiser and Lela Faye Yarborough Kiser; her husband Douglas Donald Childress; and her sister Betty Rose Whitener. She is survived by: her daughters, Lisa Hoffman Taylor (Terry) of Lincolnton and Cathi Hoffman (Jenny Wortman) of Murrells Inlet, SC; her brother Dr. John Kiser of Lincolnton; her grandson Dakotah Blake Taylor of Virginia Beach, VA; and her great grandchild Madilyn Annsleigh Hester.
