He was predeceased by: his father Waverly Jonas; and his wife Sheron Pauline Parker Hovis. He is survived by: his children, Denise H. Eurey (Corwin) of Lincolnton, James E. Hovis, Jr. (Marilyn) of Charleston, SC, Sandra H. Cansler (Rick) of Maiden and Kimberly H. Scronce (Rodney) of Vale; his sister Patricia Hovis Hance; and his sister-in-law Sharon Saine Hovis. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
