It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene Jenkins Fortenberry of Lincolnton, North Carolina, who passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas D. Jenkins and Pearl Crouse Jenkins; her husband Walter Landon Fortenberry; her daughter Sandra Fortenberry Helms; and her siblings, Albert, Howard, Lynn Jenkins and Willie Brooks.
She is survived by: her daughter Lori Lawing; her son-in-law David Helms; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lemons (Brad), Candace Helms, Stephanie Lawing (Luke) and Bradley Lawing; and her siblings, Thomas "Butch" Jenkins (Bobbie) and Hazel Goins. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
