He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Dunkle and Helen Dunkle. He is survived by: his sister Stacy; his brother-in-law Michael Denning of Garner; his grandchildren, Abendigo, Elijah, Joshua, Laila and Caleb Wilmer; and also, Jennifer L. Wilmer of Aurora, Kenneth A. Dunkle and Gregory C. Dunkle II of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
