He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Roscoe and Margaret Rhyne Calaway; his wife Emma Jean McCalister Calaway; his son Steve Calaway; and his siblings, William Calaway and Mary Campbell.
He is survived by: his daughter Sherry Ballard (Roger) of Lincolnton; his daughter-in-law Debbie Calaway of Lincolnton; his grandchildren, Trey Calaway (Lauren) of Vale, Spencer Ballard (Andrea) of Lincolnton and Hollie Nelson (Chris) of Hickory; his great grandchildren, McKayla Reid, Kennedi Reid, Della Mae Calaway, Ridge Walker Calaway and Quinn Ballard; and his brothers, Floyde Calaway of Lincolnton and Charlie Calaway of Alexis.
