We are sad to announce that on September 10, 2023, at the age of 89, Evelyn Beard Long (Lincolnton, North Carolina), born in Catawba, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Beard and Florence Parker Beard; her husband Robert Carroll Long; and her daughter Carol Ann Dellinger. She is survived by: her children, Randall Long of Iron Station, Sharon Williams (Robbie) of Lincolnton and Denise Clark of Iron Station; and her grandchildren, Shannon Williams, Jason Clark, Brandy Dellinger, Shannon Posey, Josh Williams, Ashley Long, Brandon Williams, Danielle Ledford and John Ledford. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

“Evelyn Long, "Ms. Granny" to those of us who worked with her in the Lincoln County Schools Child Nutrition program, was such a joyful presence in the lives of our staff and students. We've missed seeing her since she retired. We were deeply saddened to hear of her passing and more so that we were unable to attend the receiving of friends and the funeral since even the office staff was out working in the schools feeding the children.
