He was predeceased by: his father Lonnie Herman Jones; and his wife Jennie Mae Helms Jones. He is survived by: his daughter Cynthia Gilbert of Iron Station; his grandchildren, Dyon Robinson, Josh Gilbert, Jennifer Sanders and Stephanie Gilbert; and his brothers, Bobby and James Jones. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
