He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Ray Setzer and Elizabeth "Lib" Martin Setzer; his sister Patricia Setzer Lynch; his grandparents, JJ, Addie Martin, John F. and Nancy Bradley Setzer; and his pets, Mandee and Buttons.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ramsey Setzer; his daughter Ashley M. Springs (Tanner); his grandchildren, Kinsley Springs, Kaison Springs, Cassie Keever and Christopher White; his sister Carolyn Setzer Kimbrell (Perry); his nieces, Kristin Isenhour (BI), Candace Weaver (Jason) and Caren Potter (Joshua); his great-nephew Joshua Weaver; his great-niece Carrington Potter; and his pet Luna.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Fellowship Hall. A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the McKendree Methodist Church (3537 Maiden Hwy, Lincolnton, NC 28092).
