He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Ruben and Colleen Bynum Harkey; and his siblings, Jimmy Harkey and Nellie Neal. He is survived by: his children, Matthew Leonard and Linda "Scooter" Johnson; his granddaughter Angel Hoggard; his siblings, Chuck Harkey, Elizabeth Laura and Doris Keever; and his friends, Glenda Johnson and Rick Hill. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
