He is survived by: his children, Eddie Poovey (LouAnn) of Lincolnton, John Carpenter (Pat) of Lincolnton and Paula Roberts of Lincolnton; his brother David Poovey (Linda) of Lincolnton; his grandchildren, John Carpenter (Catherine), Polly Crisson (Darin), Anna Gilbert (Jeremy), Michael Whitesides (Lauren), Kyle Whitesides (Summer), Eddie Poovey (Michelle) and Emily Dobbins (Jacob); and his great grandchildren, Canon Whitesides, Rachel Gilbert, Lindsey Carpenter, Collyns Whitesides, Kinley Crisson, Jonah Dobbins, Hank Dobbins, Nora Dobbins, Jayden McSwain and Trevor McSwain.
