She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Scates and Bessie Bright Scates; her husband Louis Joseph Cannarsa; and her brother Robert Eugene Scates, Sr.. She is survived by: her niece Cathy Scates Conner (Bobby) of Cherryville; her nephews, Robert Scates, Jr. (Donna) of Lincolnton and Louis Joseph Scates of Avery County; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Blake Conner (Madeline), Brandon Conner (Addison), Taylor Scronce (Nathan) and Josom Scates.
