He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Shrum and Cora Calloway Shrum; his wife Nancy Hart Shrum; and his sisters, Catherine Laney and Lorene Schrum.
He is survived by: his children, Debbie Boyles (Mike) of Lincolnton, Ronda Mullen (Scott) of Lincolnton, Sue Cline of Lincolnton, Byron Shrum, Jr. of Conover and Judy Thompson (Robby) of Lincolnton; his sister Bertie Ervin of Hickory; and his caregivers, Dee Carson, Sherron Gee, Tracy Ray, Jeanie Gee and Wendy Frix. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Cemetery (2858 NC-150, Lincolnton, NC 28092).
