He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Underwood Hance and Wilma Broome Hance; his sister Peggy Hance Davis; and his brother-in-law Ed Davis. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Hovis Hance; his sons, Christopher Scott Hance (Ryan Tomkins) of Huntersville and Michael Dale Hance (Patti Bogdan Hance) of Lincolnton; and his grandsons, Patrick Michael Hance of Chapel Hill and Benjamin Scott Hance.
