He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Joe Armstrong and Louise Cooper Armstrong; his brother Billy Gene Armstrong; and his stepdaughter Tammy Fox Rumph. He is survived by: his wife Martha McMurry Armstrong; his children, Mike Armstrong of Lincolnton, Mitch Armstrong of Lincolnton and Renea Fletcher of Vale; his stepson Richie Fox of Maiden; and his siblings, Earl Armstrong of Lincolnton, Jerry Armstrong of Lincolnton and Jane A. Roberts of Lincolnton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Southside Baptist Church (1726 Southside Rd, Lincolnton, NC 28092). A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
