With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William Thomas Butler Sr. of Lillington, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 15, 2025 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though William Thomas may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Euna Butler and Robert Butler; his brother Robert Butler; and his significant other Sarah Kay Epton Butler. He is survived by: his children, Ashley Butler Brossoie and William Thomas Butler, Jr. (Crystal); his granddaughters, Isabelle Brossoie, Luna and Ella Butler; and his sister Carol Butler Daskal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Flat Branch Covenant Presbyterian Church (130 Darroch Rd, Bunnlevel, NC 28323). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 3:45 PM at the same location.

“It was my honor and privilege to know Tom Butler. We shared many hours together and became close friends. I knew Tom as a man of courage, dignity and passion. His compassion combined with an amazing intellect led to some unique discoveries reducing a negative environmental condition for his neighbors and converting it into a meaningful benefit for the farm and community.
