He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Christian and Ruby Cummings Christian; his son John A. Christian; his grandson John Melvin Christian; and his siblings, Melvin Christian, Edna Mae Carter and Darlene Ray.

He is survived by: his wife Iva Douglas Christian; his granddaughters, Ann Milton and Heather Patton (Carl); his stepgrandsons, James Morrison and Jason Haire (Katelyn); and his great grandchildren, C. T. Milton, Waylon Patton and Carlee Patton.
