We are sad to announce that on February 14, 2022, at the age of 92, Mary Lou Matthews of Lillington, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Hubert Byrd and Lucille Byrd; her husband Billy Ray Matthews; her son-in-law David Ryan; her brothers, Richard Byrd (Fannie Lou Byrd) and Hubert Daniel Byrd; and her brother-in-law Charles "Chip" Matthews.
She is survived by: her children, Debby M. Ryan of Wilmington and Danny R. Matthews (Susan) of Supply; her grandchildren, Matthew Clark (Jenny) of San Diego, CA, Anna Murphy (Ryan) of Wilmington, Brian Matthews (Ginny) of Fuquay-Varina, Lauren Smith (Chris) of Supply and Kaley Bowers (Michael) of Raleigh; her great grandchildren, Madeline, Mason, Seth, Claire, William, Callie and Lennon; and her siblings-in-law, Becky Ferrell (Landis) of Raleigh, Leslie Matthews, Jr. (Tunisia) of Chesapeake, VA and Sue Long Matthews of Ocala, FL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
