He was predeceased by: his parents, Prentice "Shine" Long and Margaret Harrelson Long. He is survived by: his daughters, Deanna Britt of Florida, Mandi Temple (Josh) of Benson and Samantha Johnson (Brandon) of Clayton; his grandchildren, Payton, Raegan and Barrett; and his brothers, Wayne Britt, Mickey Hester of Pittsboro, William "Billy" Long (Deborah) of Lillington and Tony Long (Terry) of Fuquay-Varina. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center, 2300 Ramsey Street Fayetteville, NC 28301.
