He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Withers and Martha Jane Holder Withers; and his siblings, McBryde Withers, Ilene Withers O'Quinn (Lloye), Vernell Withers Sloan (Calvert), Thelma Withers Sligh (Willard), Leroy Withers, Levy Withers, Fannie Lee Withers, Alex Atkinson Withers and James C. Withers.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Sue Morrison Withers of Lillington; his son Edward Withers (Sonya Withers) of Clayton, NC; his granddaughter Rebecca Eileen Withers Gurney (Avery Gurney); his brother Jerry Withers (Brenda Tart Withers) of Broadway, NC; and his sisters-in-law, Blanche McPhail Withers of Broadway, NC, Pat Chapin Withers of Siler City, NC and Dorothy Garner Withers of Sanford, NC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
