She was predeceased by: her parents, Lacy Ivory and Alberta Andrews Brooks; and her brother Reuben Brooks. She is survived by: her husband George Alston; her children, Linda Spinks (Reginald) and Doug Alston (Jamie); her grandchildren, Camille Alston of Leah Switzer, Gabriel Alston, Scotty Switzer (Jessie) and Jacob Switzer; her siblings, Mary Vaughn of Marjorie Gales and James I. Brooks; and also Kia Brown.
