He is survived by: his children, Taylor Williams (Brandon) of Winston-Salem, NC, Evan Thomas of Nagoya, Japan and Jason Shannon Thomas of Wilmington, NC; and his brother Mark Thomas (Beth) of New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to prostate cancer research or the Forsyth County Animal Shelter.
