It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elmer Clay Edwards of Lexington, North Carolina, born in Dickenson County, Virginia, who passed away on January 20, 2021, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ineze McCartha and Elliott Ray Edwards; and his brothers, Kilby Joe, Casey Denver and Jeff Taylor Edwards.
He is survived by: his wife Veronica Campbell Edwards; his children, Elliott Ralph Edwards and Rita Leazer (Terry) of Kennesaw, GA; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Messina (David), Sarah Tilley (Brandon), Jacob Edwards (Brandi) and Zackery Edwards; his great grandchildren, Paxton and Joseph; his siblings, Gladys Counts of Clintwood, VA, Juanita Sneeuwjagt of Clintwood, VA, Roger Edwards (Frances) of Clintwood, Jeanette Mullins (Bob) of Palaka, FL, Conn Edwards (Patty) of Castlewood, VA, Deborah Adkins (Rick) of Cape Coral, FL, Vonda Mullins (Larry) and Todd Edwards (Charlotte) of Clinchco, VA; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Edwards of Locust Hill, VA, Debbie Edwards of Brunswick, OH and Verba Fleming of Clintwood, VA; his close friend Connie Corriher of China Grove, NC; and his friend Elmer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
Services will be held under the current COVID 19 guidelines set forth by the governor of Virginia.
